Contactless menus are on the rise in today’s world, and chances are, if you go out you have probably seen or encountered one. But what really is a contactless menu, and why are they better than traditional options? Let’s dive deeper and find out about their true potential.

But first … what is a contactless (QR) menu?

A contactless (digital) menu is a menu hosted on a platform on the cloud. Your guests can access it by scanning a QR code set up on your table. Sounds complicated, right? Well, not really. Not at all actually.

Here at doXmenu, you are a few clicks away from your personal digital menu. We take care of the tech stuff, you just have to make a profile and design your digital experience to your liking.

Too busy running your venue? No worries, we have thought of that too! We offer a full creation and customisation of your menu, so you can spill all your energy and time in your business, while getting the best digital solution.

Anyways, let’s get back on track. Why is this ‘digital menu thing’ the future?

There are countless reasons why a digital menu is a better idea than a traditional one. In order to make it as clear and simple as possible, we have picked out our top 5 reasons.

1. Cut down your costs!

Think of how much resources are wasted on traditional menus. You need to hire a designer, find a suitable and reliable printing studio (very rare these days). A customer spilled his cocktail on your menu card? Oh no, now you need to replace it with a new one! Hmm, you hired a new chef and want to spice up the dishes a little bit? You have to replace ALL of them now. With us, none of that is needed. You print your QR code once and you can do endless changes!

2. Less human contact, to keep everyone safe!

Contactless menus work alongside your guest’s smartphone, which they already carry everywhere! They won’t have to touch any unnecessary paper ‘books’ that could carry a lot of germs and bacteria!

3. Contactless menus are an absolute breeze to change!

Unlike traditional paper-based menus, the digital ones could be changed at any moment, and instantly updated for your guests. Have a new dish that you are excited for? No problem. Add it to your menu in under 2 minutes.

4. Have full control over the amount of details you include!

Here at doXmenu, we offer a full description, pictures, product tags, ingredients and even allergens! That way, your guests could be totally informed about what they’re consuming.

5. Our platform is 100% web based. No app download needed!

What a better way to lose

your clients than to require them to download an app for a simple task, right? Absolutely. That is why doXmenu is entirely web based. Even new clients can scan your QR code, and within seconds, have access to your menu!

Psst, bonus tip: We offer a free of charge custom flyer design with your unique QR code on it!

These days QR codes are everywhere and are incredibly easy to use. The barcode looking squares contain data which allows you to access websites by simply scanning them with your mobile device. Here is how to scan a QR code with your iOS and Android devices.

On iOS:

To scan a QR code on your iOS device, all you have to do is point your camera towards the QR code and tap the notification to open the link you are looking for.

Step 1: Open the Camera app

The camera app can be accessed by simply swiping left on your iPhone lock screen, from your home screen and from the control center.

Step 2: Select the rear-facing camera.

Point your camera towards the QR code you want to scan, making sure it is in focus and the whole QR code is visible.

Step 3: Tap on the notification to open the link.

Once you correctly scan the QR code, a pop-up notification will come up which you have to click on in order to be directed to the link associated with the QR code.

NOTE: If you don’t receive a pop-up notification, you can go to Settings > Camera > Scan QR Codes. This will allow you to enable the Scan QR Codes feature on your iOS device.

On Android:

On Android 8 or later you can scan a QR code by simply pressing on your home button to access the camera app, point the camera towards the QR code and wait for the notification to appear which will give you access to the link.

Step 1: Press and hold on the home button of the device.

Step 2: Tap on the lens and point the camera towards the QR code you want to scan.

The lens can be found on the left side on the bottom of your phone screen.

NOTE: If it is your first time using this feature a notification will come up, simply click allow, in order to continue scanning.

Step 3: Tap on the magnifying glass icon to scan.

This icon can be found on the bottom of your phone screen.

Step 4: Tap on the notification that appears and you will be directed to the link.

After you have tapped on the notification, you will be directed to the link associated with the QR code.

NOTE: Only Android 8 or later support QR scanning. Make sure you check if your android device is suitable. If your device does not support QR scanning, you can download a QR scanning app and follow step 2 and 4.
